Living Hope Staff:

  • Jason: Pray for Jason’s safety as he travels this week.
  • Dan: Please pray for my Moms protection, she will need knee surgery this spring. With the snow and ice Pennsylvania has seen I ask God to keep her safe through this winter. Thank you.
  • David: Pray for our Huddle Up connection event this weekend and for the Lord’s help in preaching this week.
  • Bill:  New York mission trip and participants
  • Ryan: Praise as all our family is healthy!! Pray through this weather that the girls will not take a turn towards sickness again
  • Cindy: Pray for time balance and wisdom in counseling; pray for continued health and continued improvement with back pain; pray for up coming mission trip preparation
  • Scott: Pray for good time management with new initiatives for 2014
  • Mark: Growth in holiness and an ever increasing desire to live a healthy lifestyle.

  • Please pray for Carla’s complete and correct healing of her hand.

W&L – The Gateway City (for security reasons, I cannot share names on the internet)

  • January 13th we start a new language school. Pray for advancement as we only have a few months left of our one year time of concentrated language learning.
  • W has met a Pakistani man who would like to be discipled. Pray that they would be able to meet regularly to encourage one another.
  • Pray for the immigrant pastors here. Next week they will receive theological training as a group from the states comes to volunteer. Pray that the pastors will be encouraged and challenged and that many more people will be reached with the gospel as a result of this training.

 

Bryan Lewis – Hope House

  • Pray for the future growth and support for Hope House in the new year.

 

Stuart and Jenny Borders, Church Planters in Atlanta, GA

  • Pray for Dan, Shante, and Bahli, three of our friends who we pray God continues to give opportunities to grow a relationship that leads to gospel investments.

Mark and Parker Phillips – Road to Karma

  • Pray for the men at NLTS (Niamey Leadership Training School) this week as they study about Personal Evangelism.
  • Pray for wisdom & clarity for Randy Saleeby as he teaches the sessions.
  • Pray for the men to gain understanding in the concept of personal evangelism & to grow in this area of their walk.
  • Pray also for them to retain what they’ve learned & be committed to sharing it with their churches or outreach groups in their respective villages.

 

R&N – Lost Cities of Asia – (for security reasons, I cannot share names on the internet)

  • Pray for continued rest during our time in America.  Pray that this time would energize us for more kingdom work in E. Asia.
  • Pray for the health of Natalie and the new baby due next month.
  • Pray for our national friends who will be traveling back to their homes for the Chinese New Year.  Pray that believers would be salt and light among their relatives.
  • Pray for Us as we speak at other partnering churches about our work.

 

John and Abby Fisher – Northern Plains

  • Family in our church was struck with some violence recently and I am trying to help them traverse the situation and figure out what is next for them.
  • We have been blessed with a new family coming to church. They are a fun addition and exciting to get to know. With them coming we are now over 40 people that call Sojourn East their church home.

 

Thomas Weakley – Campus Crusade at WKU

  • Please pray for the 55 students returning from our winter conference over the Break.  We are asking the Lord to use these students as they seek to impact WKu for Christ.
  • Please pray for our upcoming Student leadership retreat on January 24,25.  That the Lord would use the time to encourage and equip at least 60 students to be more effective as servants of Christ.

  • Welcome – Clarity and vision as I plan the launch of a new facet of Welcome Team ministry and wisdom as I craft job descriptions and recruit a team.

  • Irene requests prayer for her sister Bev.  Bev has been given three months to live and does not have a relationship with Christ.

  • Jason: Praise God Asher is better after a horrible weekend of sickness. Praise God for an amazing Leadership Covenant Community Dinner last night. Pray for the upcoming Small Group Leader lunches with Pastor David that we will see leaders share the vision and get our church connected and making disciples.
  • Dan: After prayer and research I have cancelled the biopsy for this week and will wait a couple of months to get a 2nd reading reading and then decide–seemed like an over reaction to a single reading. So pray for my decisionmaking to be in line with His will. Thanks for the prayers!
  • Benny –  Please pray for the Worship Teams as we plan for the next several weeks.
  • David: Grateful for launch of Disciple-making vision with Leadership dinner last night; praying for more people to connect with groups through our Huddle Up event on Jan.26

  • Please pray for Alassan (church leader in Ayorou) and his wife who lost their baby this past week.  Ibrahim reports that the church has rallied around them in prayer but this is still a very difficult time.

  • Chris Lindsey requests prayer on behalf of Blake and Lexi; two teenagers who were in a serious car accident in Grayson County. Pray also for the parents of each of the teens who are recovering addicts.
  • Mike and Tonya White request prayer for Charles White. Charles is in rehab and recovering from a stroke on December 31. Pray also for Charles upcoming surgery.
  • Tom Noser requests prayer for successful treatment of a back injury in order to avoid surgery.
  • Casey Simpson requests prayer for two teenage boys under her care, for family members not currently attending church and for financial wisdom.
  • Nicole Shores requests prayer on behalf of Jennifer J. in the recent loss of her mother.  She also request prayer for the Shores and Buskill families
  • Susan and Rex Woodard give praise for George starting his new job at the end of January. George is a new college grad.  Please pray that he makes the most of the opportunity and adjusts well to his new life and schedule.
  • Allison Woodard has a praise for for her father Rex, who was in an accident in July, had a successful surgery to repair Rex’s shoulder. Pray for continued recovery and provision for this time he is off of work.
  • Patricia Lee is thankful for her recent and ongoing recovery.  She also requests prayer for parents whose health is deteriorating as well as strength for the family who is giving care. She also request prayer for a job.

  • Jason: Pray for God’s שָׁלוֹם to permeate our church, families, and lives and enable us as a family of faith to more effectively live as Christ and share The Story with greater confidence and effectiveness as we make peace and share the only means to have real lasting peace.
  • Dan: Pray for prostate biopsy on the 15th to be free and clear. So thankful for the time to reflect on the meaning of the birth of our Savior to my daily living! Pray that I am more obedient than ever in 2014 to what He desires for me.
  • Benny –  Please pray for our teams who are in the midst of making plans for January through Easter.  We want to be in tune with God’s direction for our Worship ministries.

  • Becky Bruce requests prayer for Jim who has recently been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and cardiomyopathy.
  • Cary Hale asks that we pray she will get a good job and that she will have a sense of safety and security. Pray also for peace and strength.
  • Lindsey Midkiff requests prayer for Kennedy Jones who has been diagnosed with migraines, pray for healing.

Here are some recent requests from the membership

  • Barb Moore requests prayer for her friend, Sherry Chastain, who has colon and liver cancer. Please pray the doctors will make the right decisions about her treatment and for healing.
  • Sofia Baird requests prayer for Mr. Tim booth due to his leg injury.
  • Marsha Smith asks that we agree with her in prayer for her to be able to attend church every Sunday. At this time her employment does not allow it.
  • Gaye Pearl requests prayer for her uncle, Bill Frist, who has been diagnosed with advanced cancer. Please pray for comfort, peace and joy for him and his family during this uncertain time.
  • Linnia Stahl requests prayer due to several medical issues including problems with both feet and cataracts.
  • The Mruk family offers praise for Cindy Starr’s thoughtfulness and organization in caring for their daughter.

Staff Requests

  • Jason: for a great Christmas Kickoff this Sunday and gift for Christ provision.
  • Dan: Praise for a great and safe trip home to PA. Prayer for the entire church as we move into the blessed time of the birth of our Savior that we grow in awe and wonder at not only what God has done but WHY God did it….He loves us
  • Benny –  please pray for the Choir, Orchestra, Tech team, Refreshment team, Welcome team, Student Band, Joyful Noise, and many other members of support teams to focus on Jesus as we lead in a Christmas kickoff celebration of His saving love this weekend.
  • David – praise for the opportunity to celebrate Advent all season with the Living Hope family.. Also, pray for wisdom to develop & begin implementing a comprehensive disciple-making strategy– there are a lot of parts!
  • Ryan – Pray for the sell of our house
  • Cindy – Praise for a great Thanksgiving with some of our family. Praise for a worshipful Advent celebration. Pray for Joyful Noise as they sing this weekend and December 15th. Pray for GFC offering and those who will be sent because of the giving.

  • Starting this Friday W will meet with S, a Pakistani believer, every week to study the Bible together. Pray that this will be an encouraging time for both and that S will begin to get a vision to reach other Pakistanis in our city.
  • Pray for opportunities to share with our neighbors during the Christmas season.
  • Our language tutor quit to pursue a full time job. Pray that we find another class setting or tutor that would work well with our schedule and that would be a good fit for us.
  • Pray for our boys, that they would begin to show progress in learning the language. Pray that they would stay healthy as the temps get colder.

  • Please pray for Affordable Christmas this Saturday at Forest Park Baptist Church

  • Please pray for us as Reservoir Church prepares for the Christmas season. We are praying this time can be used to soften our community to the gospel and the church’s presence.  Pray for us as we consider different ways that we can be a part of the community during the season.
  • Pray for 2014 partnerships for the church. Stuart’s apprenticeship with NAMB ends in January. So pray that God continues to connect us with churches and individuals that want to partner with our work here in West Highlands.
  • Pray for Jenny’s strength and health. Ben is showing to be a big boy already, which means Jenny is even more uncomfortable and has to work more to do things she wants to do.  Pray for our peace in caring for our other kids during this time to that we would trust in the Lord even more to be at work in their lives to trust Him.

Bryan Veatch – FCA director, South Central Kentucky

  • My mother-in-law, Ina Bucklew has returned home with us now and Hosparus has been called in; we are doing everything we can to make Ina’s final days (however long God grants) as comfortable as possible.  The Multiple Myloma Cancer has accelerated; Ina’s desire is to be with the Lord.
  • I pray for Shelly’s & our familie’s strength as well as the Hosparus care givers who have been such a blessing.  The group of people really see their work as a “calling” and it shows.
  • Please pray for KY FCA Coach/Spouse Get-a-way in January.  Our goal is a minimum of 10 Couples from our local are to attend.  This will be an incredible blessing for many Coaches and their spouses.
  • Our budget shortfall continues ($15,000) since August due to the loss of a $20,000 major gift due to circumstances beyond our control.  My staff& i are seeking to add additional monthly support to compensate over the long run, but in the short run, it’s very stressful.

Mark and Parker Phillips – Road to Karma

  • Pray for a group of 18 men going through the fifth NLTS this week. Pray that the teaching they hear they’ll be faithful to share with their villages.
  • Pray for us as we scout out the Songhai of Benin next week

  • Pray for 50-70 students to attend our annual Christmas Conference the week after Christmas in North Carolina.
  • Please pray that Thomas Weakley’s kidney stone will pass soon so he will not have to have surgery.

  • Gwen Sledge requests prayer for her father, Jimmy Turner, who is having health issues. Please also pray wisdom for his doctors regarding the need for a heart valve replacement.
  •  Lucy Fultz requests prayer for her friend, Kim Wood, who has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.
  •  Danna Frank requests healing for her daughter, Lydia, who had eye surgery 12/2.
  •  Nicole Shores requests prayer for Christi Shores’ family, for Brenda and Jason Shores, for Connie and Mike Case and for Misty Buskill and her family.

Prayer Requests for the Week of November 24th

This week be in prayer for our missionaries that are away from home.  Most missionaries have to spend the holidays away from their parents and siblings due to their calling.  This is a hard time for most missionaries because they so much love their families and long to be with them.

Take to the Lord what you are thankful for and thank Him for blessing you with them.

  • One of the guys in our church that I lead to the Lord recently just got out of Jail, God seems to be doing some incredible things in his life. Pray for diligence on my part and openness on his.
  • God recently opened up a huge ministry opportunity with a guy named Dan, Dan is someone I would say is becoming more and more a leader in our church. I am mentoring him on a weekly basis. Dan has heart for youth and young people. he is starting to do some outreach to college age kids.
  • We are seeing more opportunities to reach out to people in our community. Don and Tage are two guys I am reaching out to this week. Please pray for God to open up their hearts to the Gospel.

Thomas Weakley – Campus Crusade at WKU

  • Pray for a team from Texas who arrives this week.  We’ll be working on a building project with a school in the bush.  Pray for this school which, while trying to educate over 300 students, has 1 textbook and 3 notebooks for the entire school (teachers & students!!!).  Pray that we’ll be able to encourage them and also for safety as we’ll be camping out several nights in an increasingly less safe area.
  • Pray for a scouting trip to find Songhai in Benin that we’ll be preparing for soon.  They are completely unengaged and unreached and, to our knowledge, have never had any Gospel presence.

Thomas Weakley – Campus Crusade at WKU

  • Thank you so much for your prayers last week.  The Lord worked in great ways through the Billy Graham My Hope outreach.  Honestly we were a little apprehensive in how College students would respond to a video presentation for 30 minutes but as we watched the room fill up,  it was very evident that the Lord had his hand on this evening.  Nearly 400 students filled the room as we began the Billy Graham video.  The students were completely focused throughout the entire time.   After the video,  one of our staff members Tim Stover led them through a time of prayer and decision.  Fourteen students indicated that they placed their trust in Christ, another 31 indicated that they wanted to get “off the Fence”  with God. God is at work.
  • Please pray for the follow up of these students who made or desired to make a decision for Christ.
  • Please pray for me (Thomas)  I have a kidney stone that is very large.  We are praying that it will pass without having to have surgery.  Thank you!

  • Pray for the 8 new believers who confessed Christ last week while a team from LH was here.  These believers emerged from 5 different villages.  In 3 villages, we saw the first believers ever to emerge from their village!
  • Pray for a team from Texas coming out next week to work on the Mehanna road.  Pray that they would encourage the few believers and share boldly with those still living in darkness.

  • David – pray for clarity & a heart to learn at Re:group conference in Atlanta this week, then for restoring grace in a few days vacation at the end of the week
  • Bill – Pray for the upcoming senior adult retreat next week. And travelling mercies as I attend a seminar.
  • Ryan – Pray for my family as we have all come down with a cold.

  • Please pray for us on Halloween. Our neighborhood explodes on Halloween with easily close to 1000 kids, so we are going to give away cups of chili and drinks along with lots of candy. We are going to close down our little through street and set up tables with music.  We think it will be a lot of fun and afford us lots of opportunities to sit with neighbors, many that we haven’t seen since the movie night this summer. Please pray we make great touches serving families and that we would have some great conversations about Reservoir Church.  We will be meeting the following Sunday night for bible study, so pray that we would see new people at bible study following our halloween outreach.
  • Please for our 2014 planning time as we seek to layout our next year and three year plans for Reservoir Church.  Pray that the Lord would grant us wisdom and clarity for the mission He has sent us her for.

  • My mother-in-laws health situation has declined over the past 3 weeks.  We are praying for her spiritual strength as she battles cancer & its physically draining effects. She is currently at the Med Center (LHBC Deacon’s are visiting Daily).
  • PRAISE – We are very excited that my oldest child, Chelsey, is now married to Alan Bush.  The entire wedding and the events leading up to it and after provided great memories with family & friends!
  • PRAY for my 30 year old staff mate Andrew as he has decided to end his relationship with his long time girl friend after much prayer & counsel.  He is seeking God’s best…we are praying for God’s favor for Andrew.
  • Pray for Donna Smith, local FCA Representative, retired teacher, coach & FCA Sponsor that God will provide His favor and open the hearts of the 35+ jr. & sr. High campus leaders to serve Christ by serving/loving others their campuses, just as Donna has so faithfully for many years in the public schools.
  • My office is praying to make up for a $20,000 budget-shortfall suffered in August due to the unexpected-loss of a major gift due to circumstances beyond our control.  PRAISE THAT TO-DATE, $5,000 has been provided TO OFF SET, and i have had another $700/month pledged in monthly support that will, in the long-run make up for the loss.
  • Praying that a corporate match program in our region will reverse it’s decision to refuse to match it’s employees contributions if made to a Christian 501c3.  It’s becoming a very common issue.
  • PRAY for the transition of our former Owensboro FCA Staff Mate of 10 years and close friend, Rusty Tichenor as he assumes a new role with Kentucky Wesleyan College.  Pray also for former coach & school administrator, Shawn Tomes who will be promoted fro Area Rep to Director of our Northwest KY FCA Region.
  • PRAY That my staff & i would be subject to God’s directions for our work, keeping the Gospel of Jesus & HIS Word at the heart of all we do that we do not labor in vain!

  • Pray for the farmers of Niger which includes all of our believers who have yet another disastrous rainy season.  Most the millet in Songhai lands either didn’t get the rain needed or has been destroyed by a deadly parasite called Witchweed (in the mistletoe family).

  • Pray for one of the guys I disciple who continues to battle with depression and doubt.  R will meet with him this week to discuss these issues.

John and Abby Fisher – Northern Plains

  • Thanks again, we are in the middle of some really neat leadership growth. I am developing a recent college graduate into a key leader in the Church. He is growing so quick and it is really exciting to see someone we have reached out to grow and now is becoming a leader.
  • Please pray for the outreach we are doing out in the community, it is a huge task but we are grapping ahold of getting people together to reach the community.

Thomas Weakley – Campus Crusade at WKU

  • PLease pray for the upcoming outreach we will be having on campus on Nov. 7th.  We are participating in the “My hope for America” Billy Graham Crusade.  We will be using it on campus and prayerfully in the resident halls and other small group areas.
  • Please pray for our staff members as they appear to be going through a large amount of Spiritual Battle personally and in the ministry.

Departmental Prayers:

  • CC- Pray for God to breakthrough the hearts of our bible study participants
  • Student Ministries – Pray for an exciting and  meaningful Fall Retreat this weekend.
  • Connections Ministries/Welcome Team – for wisdom in some team transitions and the expansion of the Guest Parking ministry to the children’s wing soon.

  • Rita Metz requests prayer for Cindi Cusick who is trying to get disability and is going thru the final steps of divorce. Pray she will be strong enough mentality to handle the results of both.
  • Nicole Shores requests prayer for Jason Shores, Jimmy Lanham, Jan Guilles, Connie and Mike Cage and Barbara Clark.
  • Al Morel requests prayer for his daughter, Mandy Loving; please pray for complete healing.
  • Please pray for Larry Childress’ and Hassiden Kaholi’s salvation. Pray too for Eugene Dennis who has Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
  • Pray for Donna Brown who is scheduled for knee surgery 10/28.
  • Camelia Bowles requests prayer for employment for her daughter Rachel.
