  • Please pray for new believers in Gabou to stand strong in their faith!

R&N – Lost Cities of Asia (for security reasons, I cannot share names on the internet).

  • Praise God for the local sisters from our old city who came to live and share in Cloud Village.  They held “summer school” for the village children and had more children than they could teach.  They were welcomed into these children’s homes and were able to share the gospel with the families.  Four individuals expressed a desire to believe in the Most High God!  Pray for them that they would leave their false gods for good.  Pray for them as they are sure to face persecution in the village as they follow Christ.  Pray for us as we travel back to this village to disciple them.
  • Pray for the walnut company that we are trying to establish to gain a visa and access to the Mountain Bear people.  We are nearing the end of the registration process but still need prayers that it would go through without further red tape.
  • Pray for us as we make frequent trips to the villages over the next two months.  It is rainy season and roads are often harder to get up.  Pray for safety as we travel, spiritual protection in a very dark area, and for villages and homes to be open to us.

  • We had the privilege of being a part of a traditional African Wedding Ceremony. We have been ministering to a Liberian man and Burundi woman for several years and are walking the road, with them, to marriage. They had their cultural ceremony, and it was wild and so good. So good to see God’s goodness in the story of these people and how Sojourn has been a part of it. The father of the groom said,”I didn’t know the Bride to be, but when I heard Sojourn Church was a part of this I rested easy” He also pulled me aside and thanked me for the tremendous ministry we have had with his children and how we have fully integrated his Sons into our Church family.

Prayer Requests for the Week of July 31, 2016

Prayer Requests for the Week of July 31, 2016

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

I think that few of us ever stop to consider the implications of this passage of Scripture for us and our lives. Often it’s easy to think that we are in control, and that that is the way it should be. After all, who could possibly know us and our needs better than ourselves? This Scripture says that God knows best, even more than we do. If we are willing to submit to His leadership, then He will make our lives orderly and purposeful. Not only that, He will also give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). When we pray for our daily struggles, is this the mindset that we bring into the conversation? Is it possible that God knows best even when our loved ones are not in the best of health, or when our lives are chaotic and uncertain? Would I ever know if I didn’t leave it to Him to decide what I should do next? What would it mean if, today, I trusted in the Lord with all my heart and leaned on Him for direction?

From stepping in and helping a local non-profit, on the fly, to being the best parade crew there was nothing these folks couldn’t do. We had a great turnout at our block party on Sunday and the coolest part is we had some people return this week to our church gathering. SO COOL!

Thomas Weakley – Campus Crusade at WKU

  • Please continue to lift up Thomas and the CRU staff and volunteers as they reach out to WKU for the cause of Christ.

Jacob and Cara Stevens – Portugal

  • Our daughter is due to make her arrival this weekend. You can pray with us that the labor and delivery go smoothly and mother and baby recover well afterward. Thanks!

Justin Pate – Pastor, Redeemer Church

  • Please pray for our trailer park outreach called parking lot party every Thursday at 5:30
  • Pray for Redeemer Church Warren East as we make decisions about a location to meet.

Departmental Requests.

Welcome Team / Guest follow up

  • Please join us in praying for an increase of 100 team members over the next 12 months. June, 2016 – May, 2017
  • Please also pray for wisdom in hiring an Assistant for Guest follow up and also as we search for a new lay leader to lead our Lobby Team.

Preschool – Please pray that The Lord will provide more servants for our growing ministry to babies and preschoolers.

High School – pray for God to raise up some gifted teachers and small group leaders who are called by God and passionate about students.

HCBC: pray for rest and a renewal for the counselors, as they seek vacations and mini vacations the rest of the summer; pray they all will rely on the work the Holy Spirit is doing and not themselves.

Global Impact:  Pray for our staff as we enter into our busiest administrative and planning time of year.

Living Hope Members:

  • Vanessa asks for prayer for her daughter who is leaving on a mission trip to a country in Latin America this week. Please pray for her and the other missionaries’ safety and God’s protection, also for His will to be done through this team on their trip.
  • Leslie requests prayer for her husband as he is having a surgery done on his knee soon. Please pray for the operation and for his recovery process.
  • An unspecified person asks for prayer to know God’s will for where to live and for wisdom and direction going forward.
